10 of the Best Game of Thrones Quotes

January 28, 2019 by Meet Brenda 7 Comments

Can't wait until the next Game of Thrones episode? Satiate your hunger with 10 of the best quotes from Game of Thrones- book edition.

One of the drawbacks (if you can even call it that) of marriage is that I have yet to watch the Game of Thrones season premier for this season. Why? Because Josh has been working incredibly late every night this week.

This means, that I’ve had to tiptoe carefully around the Internet making sure I don’t run into any spoilers. I hate spoiling things for myself.

Even though I can’t watch the show yet, I still want to celebrate Game of Thrones season, since it’s my favorite TV show right now.

In honor of Game of Thrones season 5, here are some of the quotes that I think are the best Game of Thrones quotes from A Song of Ice and Fire. All quotes are taken from the books, rather than the show.

10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones

April 17, 2015 by Meet Brenda 6 Comments

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

One of the most popular posts on Daily Mayo was the cocktails inspired by the women of Game of Thrones post I did last year.

This year, I thought I’d finally get around to the men! This season, there are a lot fewer men than in the earlier seasons, but nevertheless, here are 10 cocktails inspired by the men of Game of Thrones:

Tyrion Lannister: The Godfather

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

I think it’s safe to safe to say that Tyrion is the favorite in the land of Game of Thrones right now. He more or less follows a moral code (more so than the others, at least), is funny, and gets the short end of a stick. Everyone loves a talented underdog! I’m hoping Tyrion will rule the 7 kingdoms some day, which is why I’m giving him The Godfather.

 Preparation:

  • 2 parts scotch
  • 2 parts amaretto

Serve over ice (or don’t), and sip slowly or you might land on the floor rather quickly.

Jon Snow Pisco Sour

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Jon bothers me. He’s supposed to be this great leader, but I find him whiny and annoying. This is why Jon gets the Pisco Sour. He may have power, but he’s still a little frothy and weak around the edges.

Preparation:

  • 2 shots pisco
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 egg white, whipped

Mix the liquids, then spoon the whipped egg white on top. Serve with or without ice.

Petyr Baelish: Jack Rose

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Petyr is a slippery, slimy nightmare of a person, but I can’t help admiring him. So far, he’s managed to avoid blame for anything and has gotten everything he has ever wanted. That takes skill and talent, even if you hate him for it. Petyr is the Jack Rose, because he is smooth on the surface but can punch you in the stomach at any time.

Preparation:

  • 2 ounces apple brandy
  • 1 ounce grenadine
  • 1 ounce lemon juice

Mix the ingredients and serve over ice.

Varys: Dirty Martini

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Varys is known as “The Spider” because he has eyes everywhere. The Dirty Martini is the perfect drink for such a slimy, creepy person.

Preparation:

  • 2 ounces gin or vodka
  • 1 tablespoon dry vermouth
  • 2 tablespoons olive juice
  • 3 olives

Mix the liquids together, add the olives; and you too, can turn into a pretentious slime ball like Varys.

Doran Martell: Negroni

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Doran is new this season, so we don’t know a lot about him, but I would guess he’s less cocky now after the death of his brother. Doran is cautious and doesn’t display his hand right away, but his power is there, hiding under the surface. This makes the smooth and flavorful Negroni the perfect drink for Doran.

Preparation:

  • 1/2 shot sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 shot gin
  • 1/2 shot Campari

Pour the shots one at a time over a cup full of ice. Stir together, then garnish with an orange, or simply drink.

 Bran Stark: Bloody Driver

Bran may be unable to use his legs, and sort of boring at this point, but he’s bound to do something important at some point. Either that or he will die uselessly like most of his other brothers.

Bran gets a virgin Bloody Driver, because he is still a kid and could go either way.

Preparation:

  • 7 ounces of tomato juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce orange juice
  • 5 ounces club soda

Mix up the juice then add ice and stir.

Hodar: Gold Rush

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Who really knows who Hodar is? He had a tragic childhood, but is so loyal to Bran and the other Starks. I imagine he is the bravest of them all when it comes down to it. That’s why Hodar gets the Gold Rush.

Preparation:

  • 1 shot bourbon
  • 1 shot lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Stir, then drink all at once like an upscale version of your college days. You can also mix it with some club soda if you want to sip on it for a while.

Jamie Lannister: Old Fashioned

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Despite being grossly attracted to his sister, Jamie reminds me of an old-fashioned guy. He just wants to do what he is told and fight for the city he loves. That is why Jamie gets the Old-Fashioned.

Preparation:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 splash water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 dashes of bitters
  • 1 orange wedge (if you are feeling fancy)
  • 1 maraschino cherry (see above, Jamie would add the cherry)

Mix the ingredients until the sugar dissolves. Then add ice, garnishes, and drink!

Reek: Bloody Bull

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Reek/Theon is a sad, sad person these days. We don’t know what his future role will be or even if he will make it through anything alive. His life is full of torture and depression, which is why he gets the Bloody Bull.

Preparation:

  • 1 ½ ounce vodka
  • 1/2 beef bouillon cube
  • 2 ounce tomato juice

Mix the ingredients until the bouillon cube dissolves. Then, serve over ice or drink it straight. If it is too salty, add more tomato juice.

Sam Tully: Stinger

Love the Game of Thrones? Celebrate your love in the most sophisticated way possible with these 10 Cocktails Inspired by the Men of Game of Thrones.

Sam is a strange character because he is both weak and strong at the same time. If it was not for him, the white walkers would have won many times. Sam appears weak, but has strength where it counts. That is why Sam is the Stinger.

Preparation:

  • 2 ounces brandy
  • ¾ ounce of white crème de menthe

Mix, drink, and enjoy the refreshing cool breath afterwards. Maybe you too, can get the woman like Sam did after drinking this.

Game of Thrones Items You Need before the Next Season Premier

March 30, 2015 by Meet Brenda 9 Comments

Can't wait for the next season of Game of Thrones? Make sure you have these Game of Thrones items before the season premier!

It’s Game of Thrones time again! Game of Thrones time is one of my favorite seasons of the year. I kind of hope George RR Martin doesn’t catch up with book writing because I’m happy to see this show go on forever.

Before you settle in to watch each new episode on HBO each week, make sure you’re prepared for the next Game of Thrones season with the following must-have Game of Thrones items:

Game of Thrones Items You Need
Can't wait for the next season of Game of Thrones? Make sure you have these Game of Thrones items before the season premier!

The Books

If you haven’t read the books, why not? Sure, they are long, and some seriously could have used a bit of editing, but for the most part, the books are excellent! Any Game of Thrones TV fan should read the Song of Ice and Fire BooksASAP. They include quite a bit of variation from the show- it’s almost like an alternate reality in spots.

Get them here.

The Previous Seasons

If it’s been a while since you’ve watched season 1, now is the perfect time to catch up before the new season starts. It’s about time for me to re-watch all of the previous seasons. I almost don’t remember what happens.

Buy them here.

These House Motto Pendants

I love aluminum stamped pendants and jewelry. This seller offers a wide range of house mottos and other sayings from the book. I would choose House Tyrell’s motto, “Growing strong,” or House Greyjoy’s motto: “We do not sow.” I particularly like the Greyjoy motto. It sounds so vicious.

Chose your house and defend your position while playing the Game of Thrones board game.

 Buy them here.

The Board Game

This is probably my favorite board game of all time. It is competitive, long, intense, and the most fun you can have without actually taking over other countries. If you like competitive games, then you must add this to your home game library.

Buy it here.

These Shot Glasses

A lot of the Game of Thrones depends on alcohol. Use these shot glasses to drink these cocktails inspired by the women of Game of Thrones while playing one of the many Game of Thrones drinking games.

This Coloring Book

Violence-themed coloring is fun.

These Coasters

These coasters look just like the wax seal from each of the major Game of Thrones houses. I am partial to House Tyrell and House Greyjoy, but I would happily rest my drink on any of these coasters.

This Quote Poster

This is one of my favorite Game of Thrones quotes because it is said by Tyrion, one of the best characters, and it’s about books, my favorite things.

This Cookbook

There are a lot of food references in A Song of Ice and Fire (not as much in the TV show, because too much time is taken up with violence and sex). The food always sounds so amazing. These dishes would be perfect to serve at your Game of Thrones party!

Serve these foods with a side of Game of Thrones-themed cocktails.

I like blankets, I like maps, and I like the Game of Thrones. So, this is pretty much sold right now.

This Three Eyed Raven Beer

Each year, Ommegang comes out with an official Game of Thrones Beer. This one goes on sale in April, and will likely sell out in just a few weeks, so make sure you watch out for it before you have to pay thousands of dollars for it on e-Bay.

Book Vs Movie: A Storm of Swords vs Game of Thrones Season 3

August 6, 2013 by Meet Brenda 5 Comments

The thing that I hate the most about the Game of Thrones TV show, is that it is only 10 episodes long. I really think the series could be at least 13-15 episodes long and still have enough content to match the book. Anyway, season 3 ended way too soon for me, and here’s why:
