Book List: Publisher’s Weekly Best Books

If you just can't get enough of book lists, then you'll love this series from Publisher's Weekly. Each year, the publication reviews the top books of the previous year. The Changing Digital World: Selling Used Digital Copies

The Changing Digital World: Selling Used Digital Copies

Here is something incredibly interesting and rather confusing that has popped up over the past few months. In October, 2011, the site ReDigi opened. With ReDigi, the goal was to allow users to sell their used digital files to the site, which could then resell the files to another user at a discount. The pricing distribution was 60% for ReDigi, 20% for the original music owner, and 20% for the royalties on the digital file. The system works like this: When you want to get rid of a digital … [Read more...]

So if you are like me, here is a list of classic books that won’t … [Read more...]

Potential Updates

So, I really want to update the Daily Mayo site, but I'm not very good at web design. The main thing that has stopped me is the idea that if I try to change something, I could end up deleting everything. I feel like I know just enough about updating a site to be highly dangerous. So hopefully, I'd like to be able to introduce some changes slowly-ish. I want to brighten up the posting area so that the posts are a little easier to read, and add some more relevant pictures of books and things. I … [Read more...]

Banned Book vs Movie: Little Women

Banned Book vs Movie: Little Women

Today we are focusing on banned books in honor of Banned Books Week coming up next week. I figure there are enough banned books out there to celebrate for two weeks. :-)   Today's banned book is Little Women. My sources didn't really say why it was banned, just that maybe it was because it had anti-feminist themes. It could also be because of the fairly Christian discussions and refrerences in the story. I don't believe that it is on any banned books lists today. … [Read more...]
