30+ Books to Snuggle Up With this Winter

December 16, 2014 by Meet Brenda 12 Comments

It’s winter, which means it is a great time to curl up with a book by the fire and a hot beverage. Reading feels so much friendlier when it’s cold and wet outside.

This week, the ladies in the Southern Girl Blogging Community have gathered their favorite books to read by a warm fire when it’s cold out!

Favorite Fiction Books for Winter Reading

If you love a good fictional story, curl up with some of these this winter!

One of my favorite books that I read this year was Destruction by Sharon Bayliss. This series is all about people with somewhat magical powers based on the season. The stars of the book all have winter powers and are called the December People, which I think is fitting for a winter read.

I love reading a good fantasy in the winter. This list of fantasy books that are readable may convert even the most pragmatic person to a fantasy lover.

Crafty Wife shares her favorite reads of 2014, some of which include my favorites: The 5th Wave and Gone Girl.

Southern Charmed Blog shares her winter reading picks full of YA, tearjerkers, and mystery.

Sometimes, the best read in the winter is a heartwarming romance. Keeping Your Cents recommends this romance about a struggling single mom.

If you’re looking for a fun, YA thriller, look no further than We Were Liars, recommended by Tiffany at Endless Bliss.

Keeping Your Cents recommends the fun winter romance- Tackled by the Girl Next Door.

The Selection is a fun mix of romance and dystopia- and Tiffany from Endless Bliss recommends it as a perfect winter read.

For an unusual twist on YA fantasy, My WHAM Plan recommends trying Dark Hope- an interesting modern fantasy based around the ancient lore of angels.

For a fun, lighthearted, and Christmas-themed book, try Snow Angels, Secrets, and Christmas Cake recommended by Mom’s Small Victories.

If you prefer to read somber drama in the winter, try reading The Silent Sister, recommended by Mom’s Small Victories.

For those of us with kids, here are 7 bedtime books that you will not hate as a parent recommended by Skye of Planet Jinxatron.

Winter Reads for Non-Fiction Lovers

Not everyone is a fan of fiction, and that is totally fine! We’ve got you covered with these fantastic non-fiction picks perfect for winter reading:

A Savory Feast is a big fan of the Homemade Decadence by Joy Wilson cookbook.

Interested in sprucing up your house this winter? Fixed on Frugal recommends reading Young House Love packed with nearly 250 home DIY projects.

For some wintertime inspiration- My WHAM Plan recommends The Power of the Heart.

If you want to expand your business in 2015 (or perhaps start one), Sixth Bloom recommends reading these 6 business books.
