Technology: Border’s Bankruptcy

The large bookstore chain, Borders, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy recently. According to Publishers Weekly, the chain will close over half of its stores across the nation. Borders sold over 8 percent of books and other products in the publishing world, which will impact publishers as well as consumers. Technology in Books

So I read an interesting, and very long, article about the use of technology in books. It seems that many authors avoid it altogether, sometimes by placing the characters in remote areas, sometimes by making historical novels or other novels where modern technology exists, and some authors make their characters "old-fashioned." The Burton Review is a fun site that reviews mostly historical fiction from periods such as the Tudor and Elizabethan periods. The set-up is similar to Daily Mayo, but the book topics are more narrow. This is an excellent site to visit if you're interested in historical fiction. Technology: Readers Top 100 YA Books

Persnickety Snark had readers vote over a period of several weeks for their favorite young adult books. They published the list last week, and some of the results might surprise you.
