Romantic Spring Quotes

March 16, 2016 by Meet Brenda 2 Comments

Even though Valentine’s Day is thought of as the season of love, traditionally, spring is also a time for love, new life, and new beginnings. Our spring has arrived here with a vengeance, as today’s temps already have topped 85 degrees. That is quite frankly, a ridiculous temperature even for Texas, but it does make me excited for spring. If you are also in a spring mood, you’ll love these romantic spring quotes!

Scroll to the bottom of the post to add your bookish posts to the Lit Lovers Link Party!

Can you feel spring in the air? Can you feel romance in the air? Feel both with these romantic spring quotes from books!Romantic Spring Quotes

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits. People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.”
― Ernest Hemingway

“It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want—oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”
― Mark Twain

“Her beauty took my breath away, and allowed the spring breeze to fill my lungs with honeysuckle, jasmine, and desire.”
― Jarod Kintz

Can you feel spring in the air? Can you feel romance in the air? Feel both with these romantic spring quotes from books!“The sun just touched the morning;
The morning, happy thing,
Supposed that he had come to dwell,
And life would be all spring.”
― Emily Dickinson

“It is a very beautiful day. The woman looks around and thinks: ‘there cannot ever have been a spring more beautiful than this. I did not know until now that clouds could be like this. I did not know that the sky is the sea and that clouds are the souls of happy ships, sunk long ago. I did not know that the wind could be tender, like hands as they caress – what did I know – until now?”
― Unica Zürn

“It was such a spring day as breathes into a man an ineffable yearning, a painful sweetness, a longing that makes him stand motionless, looking at the leaves or grass, and fling out his arms to embrace he knows not what.”
― John Galsworthy

“That is one good thing about this world…there are always sure to be more springs.”
― L.M. Montgomery

“People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.”
― Ernest Hemingway

Can you feel spring in the air? Can you feel romance in the air? Feel both with these romantic spring quotes from books!“It was in the spring that Josephine and I had first loved each other, or, at least, had first come into the full knowledge that we loved. I think that we must have loved each other all our lives, and that each succeeding spring was a word in the revelation of that love, not to be understood until, in the fullness of time, the whole sentence was written out in that most beautiful of all beautiful springs.”
― L.M. Montgomery

“When the groundhog casts his shadow
And the small birds sing
And the pussywillows happen
And the sun shines warm
And when the peepers peep
Then it is spring.”
― Margaret Wise Brown

Printable Romantic Lunch Notes (Lit Lovers Link Party)

January 27, 2016 by Meet Brenda 6 Comments

Looking for a way to spice up your love life? These romantic lunch notes contain romantic quotes from books and are easy to sneak into a lunch or a pocket as your SO slips out the door.

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, although we rarely do anything super-special. We have a family tradition of buying each other socks, but most years we don’t even go out thanks to costly babysitter prices.

Still, I do like Valentine’s traditions and decorating for Valentine’s day (last year our home was book-themed with a Valentine’s book page banner and book page heart wreath). I also simply adore romantic quotes, and I guess many of you must as well! The all-time most popular posts here on Daily Mayo is the one containing 11 romantic passages from books.

Today, I thought I would do something a little different. I’ve created a printable containing romantic lunch notes that you can print off and either chose your favorite to use once or put a random romantic lunch note into nine different days of lunches.

Other placement options include:

  • Sticking a note to the mirror
  • Slipping a note into the car visor
  • Placing a note inside luggage
  • Adding a note to coat pockets
  • Laying a note on your SO’s pillow

I specifically chose non-gendered romantic book quotes so that they will work for female or male SOs.

These are the quotes I’ve included (including two from my favorite books The Princess Bride and Les Miserables):

Do I love you? My god, if your love were a grain of sand, mine would be a universe of beaches.
The Princess Bride

Love itself is what is left over, when being in love has burned away.

Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life.

Les Misérables

I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.

The Notebook

It has made me better loving you.  It has made me wiser, and easier, and brighter.

The Portrait of a Lady

Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be.

Rabbi Ben Ezra

Every atom of your flesh is as dear to me as my own: in pain and sickness it would still be dear.

Jane Eyre

I wish you to know that you have been the last dream of my soul.

A Tale of Two Cities

If I were to live a thousand years, I would belong to you for all of them. If we were to live a thousand lives, I would want to make you mine in each one.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer

15 Non-Sappy Romantic Passages from Books

January 7, 2015 by Meet Brenda 18 Comments

Today is my anniversary. Not my wedding anniversary, which is on January 1st (not recommended as a wedding date, BTW), but the anniversary date for when my husband and I started dating.

So, with this date as our anniversary and Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought I’d share more romantic passages from literature for you guys. If you need any more loving quotes, last year I also compiled a list of 11 super-romantic passages from literature.

And Quote Me Thursday is back! Scroll down to link up your bookish posts!

15 Non-Sappy Romantic Passages from Books

non-sappy romantic passages from books

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

“I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you.”

Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand

“She is a mortal danger to all men. She is beautiful without knowing it, and possesses charms that she’s not even aware of. She is like a trap set by nature – a sweet perfumed rose in whose petals Cupid lurks in ambush! Anyone who has seen her smile has known perfection. She instills grace in every common thing and divinity in every careless gesture. Venus in her shell was never so lovely, and Diana in the forest never so graceful as my Lady when she strides through Paris!”

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

pride and prejudice quotes

“I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.”

Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos

“Now, I’m not going to deny that I was aware of your beauty. But the point is, this has nothing to do with your beauty. As I got to know you, I began to realise that beauty was the least of your qualities. I became fascinated by your goodness. I was drawn in by it. I didn’t understand what was happening to me. And it was only when I began to feel actual, physical pain every time you left the room that it finally dawned on me: I was in love, for the first time in my life. I knew it was hopeless, but that didn’t matter to me. And it’s not that I want to have you. All I want is to deserve you.”

Landline by Rainbow Rowell

“I think I can live without you, but it won’t be any kind of life.”

“Nobody’s lives just fit together. Fitting together is something you work at. It’s something you make happen—because you love each other.”

“Neal didn’t take Georgie’s breath away. Maybe the opposite. But that was okay–that was really good, actually, to be near someone who filled your lungs with air.”

David Copperfield by Charles Dickens

“She was more than human to me. She was a Fairy, a Sylph, I don’t know what she was – anything that no one ever saw, and everything that everybody ever wanted. I was swallowed up in an abyss of love in an instant. There was no pausing on the brink; no looking down, or looking back; I was gone, headlong, before I had sense to say a word to her.”

Elanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

romantic love quotes

“I want to be the last person who ever kisses you. That sounds bad, like a death threat or something. What I’m trying to say is: you’re it. This is it for me.”

The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

“I want to tell you, again, I love you. Our love has been the thread through the labyrinth, the net under the high-wire walker, the only real thing in this strange life of mine that I could ever trust. Tonight I feel that my love for you has more density in this world than I do, myself: as though it could linger on after me and surround you, keep you, hold you.”

P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahren

“Finding someone you love and who loves you back is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. But finding a true soul mate is an even better feeling. A soul mate is someone who understands you like no other, loves you like no other, will be there for you forever, no matter what. They say that nothing lasts forever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after we’re gone.”

The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope

“And can it be that somewhere, in a manner whereof our flesh-bound minds have no apprehension, she and I will be together again, with nothing to come between us, nothing to forbid our love? That I know not, nor wiser heads than mine. But if it be never— if I can never hold sweet converse again with her, or look upon her face, or know her love; why, then, this side the grave, I will live as becomes the man whom she loves…”

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

“You love me. Real or not real?”
I tell him, “Real.”

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

“Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music, perhaps . . . perhaps . . . love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath.”

The Reader by Bernhard Schlink

love quotes

“The more I suffer, the more I love. Danger will only increase my love. It will sharpen it, forgive its vice. I will be the only angel you need. You will leave life even more beautiful than you entered it. Heaven will take you back and look at you and say: Only one thing can make a soul complete and that thing is love.”

Quote Me Thursday Link-up: 10 Romantic Love Quotes from Victor Hugo

July 2, 2014 by Meet Brenda 1 Comment

quote me thursday logo
Did you know that Victor Hugo was a huge romantic? You may not think of Les Miserables as a love story (well, maybe you do. I never did), but some of the most beautiful thoughts about love came from that book. Many of Victor Hugo’s works have thoughtful, incredibly romantic passages. I suppose that is what you get with a French author! Although, that seems like a sort of stereotypical slur. If you are an unromantic French person, it’s OK by me! 🙂

This weekend, my cousin is getting married, so in honor of her wedding, I present to you  10 romantic love quotes from Victor Hugo.

“To love another person is to see the face of God.”
― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

“What Is Love? I have met in the streets a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, the water passed through his shoes and the stars through his soul.”
― Victor Hugo

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.”
― Victor Hugo

“The power of a glance has been so much abused in love stories, that it has come to be disbelieved in. Few people dare now to say that two beings have fallen in love because they have looked at each other. Yet it is in this way that love begins, and in this way only.”
― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

10 victor hugo love quotes

“The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved — loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.”
― Victor Hugo

“You who suffer because you love, love still more. To die of love, is to live by it.”
― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

“Life’s great happiness is to be convinced we are loved.”
― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

“Love is like a tree: it grows by itself, roots itself deeply in our being and continues to flourish over a heart in ruin. The inexplicable fact is that the blinder it is, the more tenacious it is. It is never stronger than when it is completely unreasonable.”
― Victor Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame

“To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life.”
― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

“Love each other dearly always. There is scarcely anything else in the world but that: to love one another.”
― Victor Hugo
