10 of the Best Game of Thrones Quotes

January 28, 2019 by Meet Brenda 7 Comments

Can't wait until the next Game of Thrones episode? Satiate your hunger with 10 of the best quotes from Game of Thrones- book edition.

One of the drawbacks (if you can even call it that) of marriage is that I have yet to watch the Game of Thrones season premier for this season. Why? Because Josh has been working incredibly late every night this week.

This means, that I’ve had to tiptoe carefully around the Internet making sure I don’t run into any spoilers. I hate spoiling things for myself.

Even though I can’t watch the show yet, I still want to celebrate Game of Thrones season, since it’s my favorite TV show right now.

In honor of Game of Thrones season 5, here are some of the quotes that I think are the best Game of Thrones quotes from A Song of Ice and Fire. All quotes are taken from the books, rather than the show.

Must-Read Star Wars Books (picked by a Star Wars nerd) -Lit Lover’s Link Up

April 29, 2015 by Meet Brenda 10 Comments

Love Star Wars? Then you won't want to miss reading the best Star Wars books picked by a lifelong Star Wars fan and book blogger!

In case you were not aware, I’m kind of a giant nerd. One of the fandoms I have always followed is Star Wars. I am super-excited (in a concerned way) about the new movie coming out this summer. Since this week is sort of close to Star Wars Day (May 4th- which really should have been the release day for the movie), today, I’m featuring my favorite Star Wars Books!

I really think that most of the success of the franchise is owed to the authors of Star Wars books. They are the ones who took it from a neat idea and transformed it into a full-blown universe similar to Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings.

Favorite Star Wars Books (from a true Star Wars Nerd)

Honestly, I’m not sure how dedicated you have to be to the series to be a “true” nerd, but I’m sure whatever it is, I meet the criteria. With two brothers who talked all Star Wars all the time growing up, combined with my playing dozens of Star Wars video games and reading over 20 Star Wars books, I’m pretty confident I can name more Star Wars spaceships and planets than real-life planets.

These are some of my favorite Star Wars books:

Thrawn Trilogy

This is the series that really made Star Wars into what it is today. All the politics and planets in the prequel movies? Created in this book series. It’s amazing, and really brings dimension to the original story. You can choose from the book version or a comic version- I imagine both are great, but I still prefer the book version.

Buy the comic version on Amazon.

I, Jedi

This series follows an X-wing pilot not connected to the main bunch, which I always liked. Let some side characters get some fun! It’s not quite as cool as anything Timothy Zhaun creates, but still a good read for Star Wars fans if you like a bit more action and a little less magic. The X-Wing Series is also good.

Buy it on Amazon.

There are likely better stories out there, but this short story collection has really stuck with me over the years. It focuses mainly on fringe stories, which I always like to see. This collection also has a collaboration story between Stackpole and Zhaun (the authors of the two series listed above), so that is probably why I like it.

Buy it on Amazon.

This book really feeds my nerdy side. Although this book wasn’t released when I was a kid, we would have had a lot of fun going over the blueprints. It makes the universe feel real.

Buy it on Amazon.

Not much to say about this one except that who doesn’t need a Star Wars joke book?
