I watched the new trailer for the “Pan” movie recently, which is supposedly the story of how Peter Pan became the famous, ageless boy. I have a few issues with this new movie (although it might be enjoyable to watch). First, Peter Pan looks like a mild person. Peter Pan was always meant to be extremely arrogant. Second, the movie tosses all cannon aside. Everyone knows Peter found Neverland because he fell out of his stroller one day. Third, and the thing that bugged me the most about the trailer is how many adults were in it. Adults do not belong in a Peter Pan story as main characters. Neverland is for children.
The trailer made me want to read the original story once again, and as a result, I’ve put together my favorite Peter Pan quotes from the one true story. I’ve always loved Peter Pan (except this time around I noticed how sexist the story really is), but I’ve never been much of a fan of series that “adult” the story.
