Feature and Follow Friday and Book Blog Hop: Selfie and Running a Blog

First up is the Feature and Follow Friday hosted at Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This week I was supposed to take a picture of myself with my favorite read. Well, I forgot. But, what my favorite read is currently is anything I can get on my Kindle (this is the one I have). I thought I wouldn’t like an e-reader, but I love that thing. Especially with all the e-books I get for reviews now, that is one of the best tools a book reviewer can have in her (or his) tool case!

Oh, and I’m also including a picture of myself, just in case you are curious. This is a picture of me and my husband from a wedding we went to last weekend.

Next up is the question from the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer (BTW, best blog name ever. Wish I had thought of it).

“Book blogging is more than just reading. Who helped you set up or run your blog? Or did you do it all yourself?”

Well, I pretty much run my entire blog myself. It’s a lot of work. I also have another blog, Schooling a Monkey, that I also run. I wouldn’t say that I really got help from anyone in particular, but I have gleaned information and tips from bloggers who are currently more successful than I am!

In terms of followers I am still a noob, but I have seen significant increases in the success of my blog by following some of the things that “professional” bloggers do. For example, I recently learned that sharing something with a photo base, rather than a simple link base is a more effective way to get people to click on it and view the post. That is something I learned randomly from a successful blog that  I follow!

I got the recommendation of what theme to use from my friend who is a wordpress whiz. She makes websites for some really big names.

If you want to follow me, you can do it easily through Facebook or Twitter.

So, what about you? Don’t forget to include your link to your FF and BBH posts so I can follow you back!
