Lit Lovers: Famous Quotes Featuring Apples

August 27, 2014 by Meet Brenda 12 Comments

School has started and fall is not yet here, which means we are in that odd limbo time between seasons. There isn’t much to interest me until October, when I can fully embrace pumpkins, costumes, and spooky things. However, September is the perfect time to celebrate apples, which are newly in season. My girls and I made apple chips a few days ago, which may be one reason why apples are on my brain!

This week’s quotes about apples will feature this all-American fruit.

“The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.” ― J.K. Rowling

“Stories should be natural as apples, brief as lust, long as a thought.” ― Leonard Michaels

“I stand holding the apple in both hands. It feels precious, like a heavy treasure. I lift it up and smell it. It has such an odour of outdoors on it I want to cry.” ― Margaret Atwood

“An apple tree is just like a person. In order to thrive, it needs companionship that’s similar to it in some ways, but quite different than others.” ― Jeffrey Stepakoff

“Why not upset the apple cart? If you don’t, the apples will rot anyway.”– Frank A. Clark

And this one has to be my ultimate favorite:

“If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.” –Carl Sagan
