Book: The Shadow of the Wind
Author: Carlos Ruiz Zafron
Year Published: 2001
Genre: Adventure, I suppose
Overall Rating: 4 stars
Target Audience: Adventure lovers
Characters: Daniel, his father, booksellers.
Plot: In Spain, there is a graveyard of books where they try to collect one of every book ever published. When Daniel turns 10, his father takes him to get a book from there. He picks “The Shadow of the Wind” by Julian Carax. It turns out that this book is extremely rare, and Daniel spends his life finding out the mystery of the book and why so many people don’t want it to exist any longer.
Thoughts: I like this book. I have really been attracted to the storytelling styles of Europe lately. Not England, but more mainland stories. I don’t know what it is about them, but they are so epic, and adventurous, and vivid that reading them is more enjoyable then reading nearly any other kind of story. I love stories like that, and I love this one. If you have a similar feeling about books, then you will probably love it too.
