Shows through the Years: Strawberry Shortcake

Ever think about how strange it is that every 10 years or so shows feel like they need a makeover? Recently, my daughter has watched some older episodes of “Strawberry Shortcake,” and the old shows are vastly different from the modern versions. I wonder why we always feel the need to update things? Take a look:

Here is the original Strawberry from 1977. She was a greeting card:

I don’t think there was a show in the 1990s, but this is how the dolls looked:

In 2003, there was a new update to the Strawberry Shortcakeshow:

And just a few years later around 2009 or so, another Strawberry makeover occurred:

She has certainly come a long way from her original roots! But it is hard to say whether the new versions are “better.” What do you think? Classic or new?
