Every now and then, I like to read a book with a military theme. I’m not sure if its because I grew up in a military environment or that I just like to see good defeat evil, but a lot of my favorite books have a military element to them. I love that almost every genre has something military-related as an option.
I asked fellow book bloggers to share the books they think are the best military books with you. These are the books they picked!

Book Lovers Pick the Best Military Books
The Sapphire Brooch by Katherine Lowry Logan (Leila Reads)
A Union soldier risks everything to save the life of Abraham Lincoln, while a Confederate surgeon races through time to preserve Lincoln’s Legacy.
Reenactor Dr. Charlotte Mallory has spent years perfecting the portrayal of her ancestor, Civil War Confederate surgeon Major Carlton Mallory. In the middle of the 150th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Cedar Creek, she is hurled back in time and lands in the middle of the battle itself, and from there is catapulted into dangers that threaten her life and shatter her heart.
Incinerate by Tessa Teevan (The Lovely Books)
When Knox Wellington opens the door to Charlie Davenport, he’s not expecting the fiery brunette with whiskey colored eyes and a feisty personality. Sparks fly immediately, even though their initial meeting is nothing but hostile. Their chemistry is undeniable, but the chip on Knox’s shoulder threatens to destroy any hope of him wooing the sweet, southern volunteer sent to help with his rehabilitation.
Little does he know she’s no Southern Belle, as she gives as good as she can take. As unexpected circumstances push them closer together, heads butt, patience is tested, and flames ignite as they dance around their mutual attraction, both of them jaded from broken pasts.
Unbroken by Lauren Hillenbrand (Reading Bifrost)
A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. Louie is such an honorable man. When you read all the trails he suffered in the Japanese POW camps during WWII it makes you cringe. But after all he suffered, the soldier, the MAN who had lost all his dignity, is still able to forgive his captors.
The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy (Fab Food for Life)
A military thriller so gripping in its action and so convincing in its accuracy that the author was rumored to have been debriefed by the White House. Its theme: the greatest espionage coup in history. Its story: the chase for a top secret Russian missile sub.
Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini (Free Self Living)
During the tumultuous reign of James II, Englishman Peter Blood, a gentleman-physician barely escapes the gallows after his arrest for treating a wounded rebel. Sentenced to ten years of slavery on a Barbados plantation, Blood escapes from captivity and boldly embarks on a career as a pirate, never losing sight of his goals of clearing his name and returning to England.
A rollicking tale of piracy on a grand scale, accented with breathtaking maritime maneuvers, near misses, and broadside hits, Sabatini’s fast-paced novel is alive with color, romance, and excitement.
Ender’s Game Series (Brenda from Daily Mayo)
The Ender’s Game series is one of my favorite military book series of all time. I have spent a little time in the military world, and I feel like the story (at least the original) is an accurate representation of what living a military life does to a person. I always appreciated that Ender wanted to win all future wars by wiping the enemy out, but felt bad about it and always suffered from PTSD. This is a struggle I imagine most individuals in the military go through.
