I’m over at Gin’s Book Notes today talking about Southern authors who break stereotypes with their writing.
“We all know the classic Southern stereotypes. As a born-and-bred Texan, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t pegged as a sweet-tea drinking, cowboy boot-wearing, big hair-loving Southern belle with a drawling accent.
As fun as that woman sounds, it isn’t me. I prefer my tea without sugar, cowboy boots pinch my toes, and my hair is as flat as a popped balloon.
There are thousands of books out there that feature the classic Southern lifestyle, but it is equally important to show the other side of living in the South. After all, just because you are from the South doesn’t mean you live on a plantation!”
