Do you accept books for review only from publishers or do you accept book review requests from authors as well?
I’ll pretty much accept a book for review from anyone or any place if I think I might like it. I’m not picky. 🙂 I used to accept any book, but now, if I think I might not like it, I typically won’t review it. For book tours and such, they prefer it if you like the book. 🙂 Plus, I find that I hate reading books that I think aren’t well written or have an interesting story.
Are there any book to movie adaptations where you think the movie is better than the book?
I think the only one I can think of right now is The Notebook. I really preferred the movie to the book on that one. For everything else that I’ve seen, the book is always better. I think it is because in a book, you get to experience so much more- more in-depth look at the characters, more of the universe, more incidental occurrences, and even more plot elements. It is extremely rare for me to like a movie more than the book. Although, now that I think about it, perhaps the Twilight movies were as good as the books? I’m not a super fan of Twilight, though, so I may not be the best person to judge.
What made me like The Notebook movie better? I liked the ending better, plus, I liked how the story unraveled in the movie. I liked seeing the costumes and historical events (such as they were) in a movie format. Plus, you can’t really appreciate a good kiss in the rain unless you can see the rain dripping off of the people.
What are some of your favorite movie adaptations of books? Anything you thought was done really well?
