What book are you embarrassed to admit you LOVED? (try to think beyond Twilight)
Most of the books you would think should be embarrassing, like kid’s books or YA books, I have no shame about. I think my most embarrassing reads are more romance-oriented. For example, I was embarrassed to like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants there for a while, but now, I don’t really care. I like what I like.
I didn’t read Diary of a Wimpy Kid for a while, because I thought it would be embarrassing, but it turns out, that series is really funny. So I guess the moral of the story is, don’t snub anything, because you mind find out that you like it later. And going back to admit that you now like something that you thought you would hate is more embarrassing than reading it in the first place, in my opinion.
Some books that I do find quite embarrassing, but only for the content, are graphic romance novels. I get super embarrassed when I’m reading a book, say at a park with kids around, and then suddenly there’s a graphic sex scene in the book. That’s super awkward.
When you are out of town, do you still participate in weekly memes or do you have your post scheduled to appear on your blog and perhaps check back? Or do you not participate at all?
I haven’t been out of town for any memes so far. I imagine I could possibly post in advance, if I knew what to do in advance, but more likely, I would probably just skip a week. It’s just one week or so, right? No big deal. Of course, for the link-up I host, “Quote Me” Thursday, I would have to post it in advance!
Now back to you! What “embarrassing” books do you like?
