Love Comes Softly book: In the book, Marty travels to the west with her husband, who dies along the way. Right when he dies, she finds out that she is pregnant. A man at the Funeral, named Clark, asks to marry her so that she can have a place to live and he can have a caregiver for his daughter. They get married, but she hates him. Eventually, Clark works at her long enough so that they actually fall in love.
The Complete Love Comes Softly Movie Collection: The movie has essentially the same plot, only it’s somehow a lot different.
Similarities: The main characters are there, and the main plot events happen.
Differences: One major difference is that in the movie, Marty marries Clark on trial. I don’t remember that part in the book. Marty is a worse character in the movie, and is kind of annoying actually. Somehow the movie is much more depressing than the books.
Winner: The book wins for this story. There are actually several movies based off of other books in this series, and as the series progresses, the movies are less and less like the book. I think the last movie is completely different than the book it is supposedly based on. Oh well.
