The Diary of a Wimpy Kid stories are a series of diary-styled books that are written from the prospective of a middle school or junior high kid. The stories also have a lot of cartoon illustrations that make the story unique. I’m not sure of the starting age, because I have only read the fourth book.
In this story, Greg (the main character), wants to have a lazy summer. His mother seems to have other ideas. By the end of the story Greg ends up having an unusual amount of summertime adventure.
One of my brothers recommended this story to me. He is 17, and he said the story was right on his level. My brother is not stupid, but I almost agree with him. I do not think this story is for 11 year olds because the main character acts much more like he is 16 than 12.
I liked this story better than I thought I would. The writing style is fun and simple and the illustrations make the story much more interesting and funny. I think any child over the age of 10 will like these stories, even though the main charcter does seem like he is at least 16. I give this story three stars.
